Another winner - the Vintage in Cars Granada. And it's free to see
"These cars shine with love and pride"
Last Saturday we went to see the vintage cars in Granada.
We had read in the Newspaper that the 23rd and 24th October were the dates of the Sixth Annual Vintage Car Event. More than a hundred classic automobiles would be arriving in Granada on the Saturday and being driven through the streets in procession. They would then be parked along the Paseo de la Bomba for people to inspect and admire them.
And then on Sunday the cars would continue along their route to Moclin.
A Pink Cadillac and a black Citroen were among the vintage cars in Granada
The fact that they were going to go to the municipality of Moclin was significant because the cars were being driven along the traditional "Route of the Old Automobiles".
The event was open to Classic Cars of the 20th Century and these beautiful vehicles were driven to Granada from places such as Madrid, Alicante, Melilla, Cadiz and Almeria, all of them meeting up at the Paseo.

Another attraction of the event was that the drivers and accompanying passengers would be dressed in clothing typical of the years when their cars were in circulation.
Alfonso Figares, the organizer, promoted the weekend by praising the idea of people travelling along, almost as fast as a snail, and admiring the fields and flowers as they passed by. Figares actually accepted that the cars would really be travelling at around 65 kilometres an hour (about 40 miles per hour).
I love a red Mercedes - it's got class
During the latter part of Saturday, drivers and passengers walked around Puerta Real wearing the costumes they had chosen to depict the same era of their cars.
Staff from the CIS (Centro de Inserción Social) ensured that the cars were left secure while being exhibited.
However, I'm not sure who was driving the car in this video because, as you can see, he mis-judged the car's length and ran the beautiful white-walled tyres along the kerb. Ouch!
One of the things I noticed was that the cars on show were obviously being "used and loved". The condition of the cars' paint was not perfect in every case. And some of the interiors appeared to be "well used". But, in my opinion this is much more preferable to having a car that has to be kept in pristine condition and so cannot be "enjoyed".
It was a real pleasure to walk along the rows of vintage cars in Granada as they were parked along the Paseo de la Bomba.
As well as admiring the vehicles, the whole evening was made even better by strolling along the banks of the nearby river Genil as it flowed alongside the paseo.
