The Chemists in Granada Could Be A Lifeline For You - Here Is Why

The chemists in Granada Province are a wonderful source of help for anyone suffering with health problems.

They are extremely well trained and can offer medical advice and recommendation for most illnesses, allergies and accidents etc.

Many medicines and drugs can still be bought over the counter without prescripion although recent legislation has stopped the over-the-counter sale of anti-biotics due to concerns that people were taking them needlessly.

And the price for many drugs are a lot less than a prescription charge in England.

I have found chemists to be extremely helpful - and patient - especially for those whose spanish is not too good.

And as well as good advice, a well stocked chemist Granada will be able to supply

  • Medicines of all kinds
  • Sun protection creams, make-up and skin care preparations
  • Plasters and bandages
  • Lotions and creams to protect against flies and mosquitoes
  • Baby requirements
  • Remedies for constipation and diarrhoea
  • Aftershaves and shaving requirements
  • Vitamins, minerals and "pick-me-ups"
You will find a farmacia Granada in all but the smallest village in the Province.

Farmacia sign
Usually there will be a flashing green sign in the shape of a cross displayed in front of each chemist shop and so they are generally easy to recognise and to find.

However, if you are new in a town and want to ask, "Is there a chemist near here?" then the following phrase will do just that for you...

"¿Hay una farmacia por aqui?"(pronounced a-i oona farm-a-sia por aki)

You will find that most people are really helpful and will actually take you to the chemist if you have problems understanding their directions.

Opening hours are usually from around 9.30am until 2.00pm and then from 5.00pm until 8.00pm although local differences may apply.

However, having said that, there will be a 24 hour chemist available and open in each locality. Local chemists work a rota, taking turns in opening "out of hours". Usually a list showing the nearest 24 hour Granada chemists will be posted on the door or window of each chemist in Granada.

Whether you are new in town, or an old regular, if you intend staying anywhere for more than a couple of days, it could be time well spent just finding out where the nearest chemists in Granada are. This way, if anything happens, and you want to find a chemist in a hurry, then you will know exactly where to go.
