Photo Dave WilkesGet up-to-date Granada News via this mini-journal blog (short for weB LOG), and keep informed about all things interesting by the Granada Guru.

I write about the food, the tapas, fiestas, flamenco, and the monuments (including the Alhambra as well as the various events that go on all the year round.

If there is anything you are specially interested in just let me know and I'll do my best to include it.

We've lived here in Padul - hence the title "Granada Blog from Padul, (a village on the outskirts of Granada) - for more than nine years now and can't get enough of Granada. We hope these pages will help give you a feel for this, our star of Andalucia.

Enjoy... this is fun!

Solo climber breaks his leg on the Sierra Nevadas and rescues himself

Last Sunday 3rd January, 44 year old Sean Moore left the skiing village of Pradollano (near Granada) to climb the 11,423 foot Mulhacen peak. When he didn't return as arranged, his wife notified the police.

A search party set out and searched for the whole of Monday and Tuesday, camping out on Monday night at temperatures of -6 degrees. Helicopters couldn't be used because of the dangerous weather conditions.

Meanwhile, Moore managed to drag himself down the highest peak in Spain and find his way to a bar where the alarm was raised. He was immediately taken to the emergency room in Granada's Clinico Hospital.

Sean had not taken his mobile phone with him on the climb.

A spokesman at the hospital said that Moore's condition is not life threatening, but it was not sensible for people to go climbing alone.

Some people would say that being sensible is not usually a strong trait of mountain climbers. What do you think?
