Come to the Granada Jazz Festival - You'll be in very good company

"This Jazz Festival Comes to you in style."

The Granada Jazz Festival, being one of the oldest happenings of its kind in Europe (starting in 1980), features over fifty separate concerts each November. Granada city is the only Spanish member of the European Jazz Network.

The Festival begins each year in early in November and - once started - is performance "all the way".

  • David Liebman - Dani of Moron

  • McCoy Tyner Trio with James and Chris Potter Jose

  • Ray Lema African Jazz Trio

  • Roy Haynes Fountain of Youth Band

  • Dave Holland and Pepe Habichuela with Josemi Carmona

Famous players such as Oscar Peterson, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Haden have helped create a genuine jazz following in Granada during the Festival, which has promoted a genuine exchange of experiences between foreign and local musicians.

Past performers at the International festival include the
Afro-Cuban All Stars, Keith Barron, Herbie Hancock,
all of which makes it a time not to be missed.

The conductor, pianist, composer and arranger Chucho Valdes (shown below), is reputed to be one of Cuba's greatest jazz pianists. He is also the winner of five grammy awards. Valdes closed the Festival in 2007.

Each year, there is also an exciting programme of side events throughout November, with initiatives such as Jazz at the Conservatory and Jazz in the Streets.

Prices range from less than 30 euros to less than 10 euros.
