How To Buy Your Alhambra Tickets
The Alhambra in Granada is a “must see” for most visitors but getting Alhambra tickets can be a big problem. This is mainly because many of the Granada visitors who want to go to the Alhambra (and there are almost 2,000,000 of them each year) simply assume that they can just go along and pay at the door whenever they want.
Because places are limited, getting Alhambra tickets on the day can sometimes be impossible.
As a service for our guests we used to purchase tickets on their behalf when requested to do so. However, as Alhambra tickets are limited, we often had difficulty getting the most preferred times for our clients and this caused delays while we contacted the client and discussed other available times.
For this reason, we suggest it be more effective for visitors to purchase the tickets themselves.
Below is a comprehensive summary of the options available for getting to see this magnificent Wonder. Tickets can be bought any time - up to a year in advance of the intended visiting day and this website (updatd 1st September 2007) shows how best to do just that.
When buying tickets for the Alhambra you will be asked what time you wish to visit the Palace. Although almost any time is good, we would recommend any time between 10.30am and 12 noon. Arriving at this time will mean that you will probably miss most of the coach parties of visitors that come to the Alhambra on a daily basis.
Side Note The time of your visit is the time you are due to pass through the doors of the Nasrid Palace. You will have an allowance of half an hour in order to do that. So if you have a 10.30am ticket, the time you should aim to enter the palace is between 10.30am and 11.00am.
If your visit to the palace is at any time from 8.30am to 2.00pm you can enter the grounds of the Alhambra any time from 8.30am and then stay all day if you wish but you must enter the palace within 30 minutes of the stated time on your ticket.
If your visit to the palace is any time from 2pm to 8pm you can enter the grounds of the Alhambra any time from 2pm and stay until they close at around 9.00pm, but you must enter the palace within 30 minutes of the stated time on your ticket.
Different Options for Buying Your Tickets
Queueing On The Day There are some tickets that are available for sale each morning from the ticket sales Alhambra office at 8.30am This is as soon as it opens. However, as a large queue can quickly build up, it is advisable to get tickets in advance. We have had clients who waited for over 3 hours at the beginning of the day, only to be told when they reached the ticket office that the Alhambra tickets were all sold out!!
Buying In Person Go to the Alhambra ticket office which is located at the Entrance to the Alhambra. Please note that tickets bought at the ticket office need to be used on the day of purchase.
